– Why Play Reyna?
Reyna is the agent that probably rewards aggressive play-styles the most. Each one of her abilities is usually used in a somewhat aggressive way, allowing Reyna the chance to get picks all through-out every round. She also has options after obtaining a pick. Reyna can either activate her dismiss ability to become temporarily invulnerable, or she can activate her devour ability to over-heal back up to 150 hp. Ultimately, Reyna rewards players that have an aggressive play-style and knows when they should go for picks.
– Reyna’s Abilities
– Leer (200 Credits, 2 Max)
Leer is essentially a purple orb that can be thrown through walls that floats for roughly three seconds. Any enemy player that has vision of the orb, no matter the distance, will be blinded and will also have reduced hearing. This ability makes a relatively loud noise as it’s being thrown, giving enemy players a small window to react. This ability is mostly used when pushing or defending to catch unsuspecting enemies out.
It’s important to understand that enemies don’t have to challenge you when you use leer. This means that you should not use this ability in the same spot every round. Instead, think about where the enemy players have been playing and how you can use leer to catch them off guard. If an enemy is holding an angle, use leer, and attempt to challenge them. If they hide and don’t peak, you can attempt to push them with the rest of your team. This ability is also very good to make moves with Empress, Reyna’s Ultimate Ability.
– Devour (100 Credits, 2 Max)
Devour is an ability that requires a soul orb to activate, which drops from any killed enemy. Activating this ability will connect Reyna to the soul orb with a tether. The tether will heal Reyna, and will eventually over-heal up to 150 hp if connected for long enough. It’s good to know that the over-heal acts as health rather than armor, meaning there is no extra damage reduction while over-healed. If line-of-sight of the soul orb is broken, healing will stop. Keep in mind that the tether connected to the soul orb is visible to all players, and can potentially reveal your location to nearby enemies.
The ideal scenario to use this ability is when killing an enemy and losing a decent amount of health. When activating this ability, make sure you are aware of your surroundings, as you will be more vulnerable due to the tether between you and the soul orb. Also, be careful not to accidentally break line-of-sight of the soul orb. It’s worth noting that you don’t have to activate this ability if you get a kill and already have 150 hp. Although uncommon, you can use the tether as bait and have teammates watch angles that enemy players might peak from.
– Dismiss (100 Credits, 2 Max)
Dismiss allows Reyna to consume a soul orb upon killing an enemy player and become intangible for a few seconds. Becoming intangible prevents Reyna from taking any damage and from using her weapons/abilities. This ability is incredibly good for getting out of sticky situations and repositioning. It is also very good for peaking areas that would otherwise be quite dangerous to peak. Upon getting a pick, it’s important to realize if it’s a better idea to use devour, dismiss, or neither. Sometimes it will be very obvious which one you should use, but other times you will have to make a snap decision.
When being pushed by multiple enemies, sometimes dismiss will be your only way to escape safely. Look to get a quick pick on one of them and quickly press E to retreat. If you successfully make it out, you can re-peak, or fall all the way back to the site you are defending. It’s important not to accidentally activate this ability when you don’t want to, as it can easily lead to your death. Before taking a fight with an enemy player, it’s good to think about what your plan will be if you were to get that kill. Remember this will vary from game to game based on the skill level of the different players you play against.
– Empress (Ultimate Ability)
Empress is Reyna’s ultimate, and it is currently extremely powerful. Upon activation, the player’s screen will become slightly darker and enemy players will now become highlighted in a bright red color. Reyna gains increased reload speed, fire rate, and also gains buffs for her dismiss ability. If dismiss is activated during empress, Reyna will become invisible and will gain a decent amount of movement speed. This ultimate lasts for quite a long time but also resets after each kill Reyna gets.
When using this ultimate, it’s relatively important that you play somewhat aggressive, as each kill you get will reset the ult’s timer. Depending on what the rest of your team’s plan is, you can either activate this ability right before pushing a site or after planting the spike. It is also very strong to activate this ability on defense when you need to retake a site. Remember to use you empowered dismiss ability, as this will often allow you to chain free kills on unsuspecting enemies.
Reyna is an incredibly strong pick for offensive play-styles. She has abilities that rely on picks and can easily chain many kills with intelligent use of them. Her ultimate ability buffs her fire-rate, reload speed, as well as her dismiss ability, making her even more deadly when pushing. Reyna’s Leer ability blinds any enemy players that have vision of it, allowing the chance for a free kill(s). Learning how to master her abilities with an invasive play-style is the key to becoming a Reyna god!
