– Why Play Brimstone?Brimstone has access to some of the best vision denial and utility in Valorant. His sky smokes can block off key choke areas for decent amounts of time, preventing enemies from peaking. He also has incredible zoning abilities like his incendiary and his ultimate; both of which can be deadly in the right scenarios. Brimstone also has access to stim beacons, which buffs players’ fire-rate by a slight amount. With proper understanding and communication, Brimstone is an absolute monster and can tear apart an enemy team.
– Brimstone’s Abilities
– Stim Beacon (100 Credits, 2 Max)
Overview:Stim beacon is an ability that has a radius when thrown onto the ground. Stim beacon’s radius will give any player in the game a 10% increase to their fire-rate. Upon entering the stim beacon’s radius, the player will hear a noise. When your team is grouping before pushing an area, throwing one in front of the team is very good. A well-placed stim beacon will give your entire team an increased fire-rate, which can sometimes be enough to win your team a few free kills. Lastly, it’s good to know that the increased rate of fire lasts for a few seconds after leaving the stim beacon’s radius.
Using Stim Beacon:As previously mentioned, this ability is best used when your team is grouping before a potential team fight. However, this ability can also be very good when taking an area on your own. In potential clutch rounds, a 10% increase in your rate of fire could be the difference between winning and losing a round. When using this ability, it’s also a good idea to keep in mind that enemy players also gain a 10% increase in fire-rate. This means you should be careful when throwing one too far ahead or in weird positions.
– Incendiary (300 Credits, 1 Max)
Overview:Brimstone’s incendiary ability is incredibly strong. This ability is essentially a fire-bomb that can be shot anywhere around the map. That means it can be used to stop an enemy push and punish bad positioning by quickly killing them. Enemies that choose to stand in the fire take a surprising amount of damage at a relatively quick speed. It’s important not to pull this ability out when an enemy has the chance to peak you, as it leaves you defenseless and likely to die. Lastly, keep in mind incendiary can bounce off walls after you shoot it, allowing for very precise shots.
Using Incendiary:When more than one enemy is pushing an area and potentially taking a site, you should use incendiary. Make sure not to use this ability too early, as you will likely not do any damage to the enemy players. You can also save this ability for a planted spike, when the enemy attempts to defuse. When attacking, this ability is very good at preventing aggressive defensive players from pushing.
– Sky Smokes (100 Credits, 3 Max, Signature Ability)
Overview:Sky smoke is an incredible ability that allows Brimstone to smoke off up to three places at any point in a given round. This is extremely good for preventing enemy players that want to peak common areas. This ability is also very good for eco rounds when you want to get a free kill and pick up a weapon. It is also worth noting that a single sky smoke blocks vision for about 15 seconds. This means that, if timed correctly, you can block vision in a single area for up to 45 seconds!
Using Sky Smokes:Brimstone can usually smoke many places at the start of a round due to how far this ability can reach. This means you can not only smoke-off key chokes in the area that you’re watching, but you can also communicate with your team and ask them what they want smoked. This can very good when trying to counter specific strategies that enemy players have been attempting. When attacking, look to smoke off areas that people commonly sit. However, you should be careful not to smoke too much or too randomly, as smart enemy players will hide inside and wait to make a power play.
– Orbital Strike (UItimate Ability)
Overview:Orbital strike is a massive airstrike that quickly kills anyone inside of it. A well-placed ultimate from Brimstone can sometimes kill an entire enemy team. This ability is also good for punishing players that have bad positioning. Upon activating this ultimate, there is a two-second “warning” phase that emits a very loud noise and alerts any players inside of the radius. This means enemy players have two seconds to run out before they begin taking damage. This is important to keep in mind, as some Brimstone ultimates can easily result in zero kills.
Using Orbital Strike:This ultimate is very good and stopping an enemy push. However, when looking for a good orbital strike, it’s important to be very careful not to use it too early or too late. This essentially means you should only ult if your team has vision of multiple enemy players, or if you can hear multiple enemies pushing. Brimstone’s ultimate can also be used to force an enemy player or two to peak you from a bad position. For example, if you know an enemy is trapped in a bad spot, ulting them will correctly will force them to peak you in order to not die to orbital strike. – Conclusion Brimstone is indeed one of the more powerful agents in the game, bringing many things to the table when it comes to team play. With a patient and adaptive play-style, a good Brimstone player can dominate games. Communicating as Brimstone is very important, as most of your abilities benefit greatly from teammates’ assistance. Many of the things you learn from Brimstone come with time and many games of learning! Don’t give up and you’ll eventually become a god at Brimstone!
