Overview:
Icebox is a map that has some interesting lineups for Sova. B-Site is very open, allowing for some quite creative lineups. A-Site, on the other hand, is more enclosed and has less potential for creative lineups. With the correct mentality, you can absolutely destroy your opponents with shock darts on Icebox.
Shock Darts for Icebox Defense:
Default Plant on A-Site from A-Rafters (One Bounce and One Charge):
Since A-Site is often pushed quite heavily on Icebox, it’s a good idea to give up site. Once you fall back, come to A-Rafters near where the ping is in the image above and wait for the enemy to start planting.
The lineup for this isn’t too precise, just make sure your crosshair is slightly to the right of the line in the wall as seen in the red rectangle above. Release the arrow with one charge and one bounce for it to land directly on the default plant spot on A-Site.
This is a good standard shock dart to remember to use when the enemy team goes for a fast push to A-Site. This shock dart will most likely stop the enemy planter from planting, giving your team more time to rotate. You also have a chance to kill the enemy planter.
Default on B-Site from B-Back (No Bounces and One Charge):
This is another default plant shock dart that is relatively easy to setup. The main thing for this lineup is to make sure that you stand right around where I pinged in the image above. Then turn and face toward B-Site.
Place the tip of the first charge diamond at the joint of the crane, and release with no bounces and one charge. This is a good shock dart for stopping attackers from getting a quick plant down with a Sage wall. Make sure enemies aren’t able to push you when lining this dart up.
Also remember you can use two shock darts for a potential kill as well. However, enemies will likely stop planting in the same spot after they realize that they will get shock darted.
Default on B-Site from B-Orange (Two Bounces and Three Charges):
This is a shock dart for default on B-Site in case you happen to be playing mid or kitchen instead of somewhere else. Walk onto the ping as seen above and turn toward B-Site.
Place your crosshair in the bottom left part of the gray symbol on the wall. Release the shock dart with two bounces and three charges.
This shock dart lands nicely on the default plant spot as expected. Using two shock darts is also not a bad idea here, as this shock dart is not commonly used.
Shock Darts for Icebox Attack:
Default on A-Site from A-Belt (Two Bounces and Three Charges):
This shock dart can be used to damage anyone near the default plant position on A-Site. If your team plants the bomb, ask them to come back a bit and play off of this shock dart lineup. To begin, walk onto the edge of A-Belt as seen on the ping in the image above.
The lineup is fairly simple as seen above, and can be accomplished by placing your crosshair slightly to the left of the white-colored line. Make sure to use two bounces, and release at three charges.
Shock darts from this lineup will land nicely above the default plant position, damaging any enemies near its radius.
Default Plant on B-Site from B-Main (Two Bounces and Three Charges):
This shock dart lineup is for the default plant position on B-Site, which is where enemies almost always plant in higher ranks. To begin, walk up to the gray crate in B-Main and line yourself up with the green crate across from you.
Face toward B-Cubby and line the top of the shock dart’s charge bar up with the line on the frame of the window. Release with two bounces and three charges.
When properly shot, the shock dart will land on the default plant position. Remember to ask your teammates to plant for this position if you plan to use this lineup, as it will otherwise not be as useful.
Bonus Recon Dart for Mid on Icebox Defense:
Middle from Kitchen (No Bounces and Three Charges):
This is a good recon dart I like to use when I suspect there are multiple enemies sitting in mid. To begin, walk up to the exit from Kitchen as seen in the image above. Face toward where mid is located.
Place your crosshair anywhere on the light gray wall as seen in the red rectangle above. This wall is right behind where most of the enemy players are likely to be located if they are in mid. Be aware that enemies will be prepared to break this dart if you do it multiple times.
Once enemies are spotted by this arrow, make sure you let your team know how many are mid. If the enemy team continues to push through mid, your team will have an advantage since teammates have the potential to rotate early.
Conclusion:
Icebox is a pretty decent map for Sova, as there are multiple lineups for default plants on both sites. The default plant shock darts are especially powerful, since the enemy team must defuse to win a round. Let your teammates know that you have lineups, and that they should try to play around them. This is mainly because shock darts become less useful when you’re the last player alive.
