Ascent is one of Sova’s best maps, as it is a very open map that allows for many creative shock dart lineups. Stopping default plants on both A-Site and B-Site can easily win your team extra rounds if the enemy team isn’t prepared. Communicating when you are planning on using these lineups to your team is very important as well, as it could be the difference between winning or losing a round.
Shock Darts for Ascent Defense:
Default plant on A-Site from A-Rafters (Jump and Left-Click with No Charges):
This lineup is very useful if you know the enemy team is about to plant on A-Site. Walk into the corner in A-Heaven as seen above and wait for the enemies to begin planting.
Place your crosshair slightly to the right of the wall as seen inside of the red rectangle above. Jump and release the shock dart with no charges and no bounces at the top of your jump.
Some enemies will likely be prepared for this shock dart, especially if you do it multiple times in a row. However, this is still a very solid lineup for preventing the plant or forcing the enemy team to plant in a less favorable spot.
Default Plant on B-Site from CT-Spawn (Two Bounces and Two Charges):
This lineup is a defensive arrow for the default plant position on B-Site that is shot from CT-Spawn. Walk into the corner as pinged in the image above.
Place your crosshair slightly to the right of the shadow part of the wall as seen in the red rectangle above. Release the arrow with two bounces and two charges.
This shock dart lands nicely behind site where the enemy is likely to be planting. Also, make sure enemies can’t push you when you’re lining this arrow up.
B-Main from B-Lane (One Bounce and No Charges)
This shock dart is very good for damaging enemies early in the round. Walk into the wall on the ledge as seen above.
Place your crosshair on the black line between the second and third bars as demonstrated in the red rectangle above. Release this arrow with one bounce and no charges.
This shock dart will hit any enemy players that walk into B-Main at the start of the round. You can also use this same lineup with a recon bolt if you think there might be some enemies in B-Main but aren’t completely sure.
Shock Darts for Ascent Attack:
Default Plant on A-Site from A-Main (No Bounces and No Charges):
This is a lineup that can be used if your team plants in the default position on A-Site and you’re playing from A-Main. Walk into the corner near the ultimate orb as seen in the image above.
Look up toward the sky and place your crosshair in the curved part of the cloud as seen in the red rectangle above. Release the arrow with no bounces and no charges.
This shock dart only takes a few seconds to land, allowing you to effectively stop an enemy defuser or planter. Remember to let your teammates know when you’re using this lineup, as they won’t need to peak and risk dying.
Default Plant on B-Site From B-Main (Two Bounces and Two Charges)
This can be an extremely powerful post-plant lineup that is shot from B-Main. Make sure to let your team know when going for this play. To begin, walk into the corner of the two boxes as seen above.
Place your crosshair where the two cracks in the window meet at the black line as seen in the red rectangle above. Release the shock dart with two bounces and two charges.
This arrow will land very nicely behind the boxes after a few seconds. It might be a good idea to use a recon dart before using the shock darts to stall for even more time.
Mid Cubby/Catwalk From A-Lobby (No Bounces and Three Charges)
This is a very good attacker-side shock dart if you know an enemy usually plays on cat. Walk into the corner as seen above, and turn around to face where cat is located.
Lineup the bottom right part of the mouse HUD with the corner as seen in the red rectangle above. Release the arrow with no bounces and three charges.
Enemies holding mid-link from cat will take a good amount of damage, and will be less likely to continue holding mid link in the future. It’s worth noting that this arrow does not damage players in the corner on catwalk, so be careful if you push.
Bonus Recon Dart for Attacking B-Site (No Bounces and Three Charges):
This recon arrow is good when your whole is pushing out of B-Main, or simply to figure out if anyone is playing on B-Site. To begin, walk into the entrance of B-Main as pinged above.
Place your crosshair on the tallest tree that can be seen above. Once your team begins walking out of B-Main, release the recon dart with no bounces and three charges.
This arrow will scan most of site except for a few parts where the enemy can hide behind. Also, keep in mind that this arrow doesn’t scan inside of boat-house. It’s a good idea to let your team know when you shoot this arrow since all of site can be wall-banged.
Ascent is a very wide-open map, making it very good for shock darts to catch your opponent off-guard with. Memorize the lineups you know you would use consistently, and always let your team know when you plan on using them. Communication with your team allows for shock darts to be played off of, especially if they are default-plant lineups. Ultimately, a few shock dart and recon dart lineups on each map can turn you into a much better Sova player.
