Ascent is definitely one of Sova’s best maps, allowing for some very decent recon darts that can create opportunities for you and your team. Learning recon darts for retaking A-Site and B-Site is especially important for securing extra rounds for your team. Necessary communication is also important for fully optimizing the potential of recon darts. Practice a few of the following darts and begin to master Sova on Ascent!
Recon Darts for Ascent Defense:
Mid Link from A-Tree (No Bounces and One Charge):
This lineup will land directly in mid link and can be very good to shoot near the beginning of most rounds. Walk onto the middle of the first drain as pinged above.
Place your second charge bar along the dip in the tree as seen in the red rectangle above. Release the recon dart with no bounces and one charge.
Any enemies within mid link will be scanned and revealed. You or your teammates can peak off of this dart and potentially find a pick early in the round for your team.
B-Main from A-Tree (No Bounces and Two Charges):
When playing A-Site as Sova, you can shoot this recon dart to reveal enemies inside and outside of B-Main. Walk into the corner of the door frame in A-Tree as seen above.
Look up at the trees again and find the two holes as seen above. Place your two charge diamonds so the holes are inside of them. Release the dart with no bounces and two charges.
This is a great recon dart that not many enemies will expect at first. Take advantage of this and let your team know before shooting it. Teammates on B-Site can wall-bang into B-Main if they have the proper weapon to do so.
Top Mid from A-Tree (No Bounces and One Charge):
This is another recon dart that can be shot from A-Tree to assist teammates that might be playing from back-mid or market. Step into the corner leading into Catwalk to begin.
Once you walk forward far enough, you will see a black spot next to the light blue sign. Place your crosshair slightly under it for this lineup. Release the arrow with no bounces and one charge.
It will land on the back wall of top mid, revealing any enemies toward mid or the attacker’s spawn. If any enemy players are spotted, it will give your team a better idea of where the enemies are currently planning to go.
A-Main from A-Heaven (No Bounces and One Charge):
If you know enemies are running toward A-Site from A-Main, this is a solid recon dart to help you get information. Walk into the corner in A-Heaven as seen above and face A-Main.
Place your first charge diamond inside of the tree as seen in the image above. Release the recon dart with no bounces and one charge.
The arrow will land quite high up, making it difficult for your opponents to quickly destroy it. Enemies in A-Lobby or A-Main will be spotted unless they are able to quickly hide from it.
A-Site Retake from Defender’s Spawn (No Bounces and Two Charges):
Any enemies pushing into site will easily be scanned, allowing for your team to wall-bang them from A-Heaven. It’s especially important to let your team know when you shoot this arrow since you won’t be there in time to play off of it.
A-Site Retake from A-Heaven (Jumping, No Bounces and Three Charges):
This recon dart is also for retaking A-Site, but can instead be shot from much closer than the previous one. Walk into the area as seen above and face toward A-Site.
There is a metal rod sticking out above A-Site that you should aim for. Jump and shoot this arrow with no bounces and three charges.
Most spots on A-Site will be scanned, allowing you to easily wall-bang enemies from heaven and open up the retake for your team.
B-Main/Outside B-Main from B-Site (No Bounces and One Charge):
This recon dart can be shot from B-Site to reveal enemies pushing into B-Main as well as outside of B-Main. Walk into the corner on B-Site next to the boxes.
Place your crosshair right above and to the left of the third bar in the window as seen above. It can also help to use the lamp for help with the lineup. Release the recon dart with no bounces and one charge.
The arrow will land on top of the roof outside of B-Main, scanning any enemies in line-of-sight of the recon dart. Keep in mind that this dart won’t reveal enemies that are already deep inside of B-Main.
B-Site Retake from Defender’s Spawn (No Bounces and Three Charges):
This is a retake recon dart for B-Site, and is relatively easy to learn. Simply walk to somewhere as seen in the image above and face toward B-Site.
Place your crosshair somewhere slightly above the middle of the tree that is above B-Site. As long as the arrow lands somewhere on the front of the tree, it will scan the majority of B-Site. Release the recon dart with no bounces and three charges.
Recon Darts for Ascent Attack:
A-Site from A-Lobby (No Bounces and Two Charges):
This recon dart will reveal the majority of A-Site, giving you and your team a better idea of where the enemy players are positioned.
Behind A-Heaven, there is a very light blue pulsating building. Place your crosshair in the bottom right hole of the building as seen in the red rectangle above.
The arrow lands in a similar spot as the retake-A arrow, allowing for most of the site to be scanned. If nobody is revealed, they can either be hiding behind generator or sitting in hell.
Mid Cubby/Bottom Mid from Top Mid (One Bounce and Three Charges):
This recon dart can be shot from top mid to get information of enemy positions in both bottom mid and mid cubby. Use this arrow to help assist your team when taking mid and cat control.
Place your crosshair above the dark horizontal line in the brick as seen above. Release the arrow with one bounce and three charges.
The recon dart will land on the edge of the roof near mid cubby, giving it an incredible angle to scan multiple areas. Take advantage of this by taking mid control with some of your teammates.
Mid Market/Mid Pizza from Top Mid (No Bounces and Three Charges):
Place your crosshair on the roof above the arch that leads into Market. Release the arrow with no bounces and three charges.
Any enemies in Market or Pizza will be revealed, giving your team very nice information. Keep in mind this recon dart does not check one of the corners in close-mid.
B-Site/Stairs/Lane from B-Main (No Bounces and Three Charges):
This recon dart can be shot from the entrance to B-Main, and reveals most areas on B-Site as well as Stairs and Lane. Step into the door frame of B-Main and look up toward the window.
Place your crosshair on the very top of the tree that is tallest. Release the recon dart with no bounces and three charges.
Enemies on must either be in boat house or crouched behind the boxes in the middle of site to be hidden from this arrow. Let teammates know this and you guys should easily be able to take site together.
Mid Cubby/Catwalk from Mid Link (Jumping, No Bounces and Three Charges):
This recon dart can be shot from mid link near the area seen in the image above. Face toward catwalk to get an idea of where it’s located from your position.
From this position, you will need to jump to get your arrow over the wall as seen above. Jump and release the recon dart when your crosshair is just at the top of the wall. Release the dart with no bounces and three charges.
Sova has some very nice retake recon darts for defense, as well as some aggressive attacking arrows that can both allow for early information. Practice some of the darts listed above to begin mastering Sova on Ascent. It’s also very important to remember these aren’t the only recon darts that are good on Ascent. Think about how you can be creative on the fly with both your recon darts as well as your shock darts to outplay your opponent.
