Omen is currently the best controller in the game, beating Brimstone and Viper by a decent margin. This is mostly thanks to his long-range smokes that recharge throughout the round. Omen one way smokes can also be very useful when holding certain angles on defense. Below is a list of some of the best one-ways that can be used on both Bind and Split.
Learning to Smoke as Omen:
Using Omen’s smokes isn’t too difficult, but there are a few aspects of his smokes that you will want to become familiar with if you aren’t already. After pulling out a smoke, you have the opportunity to swap ‘modes’ in order to change the view of the map. The Omen one ways below will be done in the second ‘mode’ to be slightly easier to understand. Which ever mode you choose to use, the important thing to pay attention to is the triangle that appears when smoking. This triangle tells you where exactly Omen’s smoke will land.
Also keep in mind that all the of the one-ways seen below can be smoked from any location, as long as you are in range of the area you want to smoke.
What is an Omen One Way Smoke?
Omen one ways is essentially when you use one of Omen’s smokes in a unique spot that gives you a big advantage when peaking. The advantage is generally that you can see a part of the enemies, but the enemies can’t see any of you. These types of smokes can be very useful for getting free picks or slowing down an enemy push.
Omen One Way for A-Short/A-Cubby:
The first Omen smoke is a pretty common one that is used for A-Short/A-Cubby. Make sure to place the light green triangle on the top right corner of the box for this one-way to work.
You will be able to see the bottom part of enemy players that walk into A-Cubby, allowing you to easily shoot them somewhere from A-Site. It’s worth noting that enemies trying to peak from A-Short will be able to see nothing but the smoke until it clears.
Omen One Way for B-Site:
This one-way is very good when taking control of B-Site from B-Long/B-Garden. Throw your smoke on top of boxes on B-Site to create the one-way.
The bottom portion of enemy players can be seen from B-Garden, giving you and other teammates a chance at a free kill. This smoke also limits enemy player’s vision that are on the back of site. It’s also worth noting that you might want to combine this one-way with a B-Elbow smoke for optimal safety.
Omen One Way for Defender’s Spawn from B-Site:
This Omen one way is very good if your team wants to take control of B-Site, or already has control of B-Site. There are two small ledges above the door that leads into the Defender’s spawn. Place the green triangle on the very edge of the right side for the best one-way.
Enemies trying to peak out from their spawn will again be exposed, allowing for a potential free pick. Let your teammates know about this one, as it can be very good to hold from both B-Site and B-Hookah.
Omen One Way for B-Long:
This Omen one way is great for surprising enemies when defending B-Long. There is a small little ledge that a smoke can sit on to create a very nice one-way.
Enemy players walking up from B-Long will likely be disoriented and definitely unable to see into B-Site as they normally would. Be careful for multiple enemies that might push fast through the one-way.
Omen One Way for A-Showers:
This Omen one way is particularly good if you know enemies like to peak out from Showers aggressively. Make sure to throw this smoke before exposing yourself to Showers.
Enemies playing around the corner where the smoke lands will no longer have vision. Be cautious, as enemies can push to the right side of Showers and still have pretty good vision of you.
Omen One Way for A-Main:
This one-way can be a little tricky to learn at first, but is very good for stopping enemies pushing into A-Main. It’s worth noting that the triangle will be red for this smoke.
Enemy players won’t be able to see much at all until they push all the way across the smoke. Let your team know if you hear or see anyone under your smoke.
Omen One Way for A-Ramp:
When defending from A-Ramp, you might consider this one-way to catch enemies pushing up the ramp off-guard. Make sure the light green triangle is placed behind the corner as seen in the image above.
Enemy players walking up the ramp will not be able to see you if you play near the position as seen above. It’s also worth noting that you can use this one-way on attack for potential picks on enemies holding from A-Ramp.
Omen One Way for Defender’s Spawn from A-Heaven:
When attacking A-Site as Omen, this one-way can be very powerful to pick off enemies that are rotating through defender’s spawn. The best place to play after throwing this Omen one way is on top of the box as seen in the image below.
Enemies walking into A-Heaven or toward A-Screens will be in your vision. Players walking into A-Heaven won’t be able to see you until they are directly underneath the smoke.
Omen One Way for Mid Market:
This Omen one-way can be placed on the wall connected to mid-market to create a nice gap looking into market. If any of your other teammates are also playing in mid, make sure to let them know that you’re playing off of a one-way.
The corner inside of market is visible from the box area toward the top of mid. If enemy players are splitting mid from sewers and market, this smoke gives you a lot of potential to work with.
Omen One Way for Entrance to B-Main:
Enemies often like to peak B-Main from the start of the round, sometimes making this one-way a good option. Keep in mind that enemies can push into B-Main while you’re throwing the smoke, so be cautious when peaking.
If any players are still holding the angle looking into B-Main, their legs will be exposed from the position seen above.
Omen’s smokes are very powerful, and can be used from very long ranges consistently throughout each round in a game. One-way smokes are also a very smart way to utilize Omen’s smokes, as they can give you a unique edge on your opponents. However, remember not to use the same one-ways multiple rounds in a row, as enemies will quickly find ways to counter you. Use them when you feel like you can outplay your opponents and open up the round for your team. Begin to master the one-ways above and begin to climb your way up to Radiant as Omen!
